Bruce Herron, Director of Talent Services

Bruce W. Herron has more than 30 years of experience working with celebrities and professional athletes. He routinely participates in golf tournaments with other celebrities including actors, Olympians and professional football, basketball, baseball and hockey players. Bruce

Bruce’s athletic talents and abilities earned him a prestigious athletic scholarship to the University of New Mexico, making him the only person from remote Bloomington High School to have ever received a full athletic scholarship for football to a Division I university.  Bruce graduated with a degree in Communications/Public Relations.

In 1977 Bruce was drafted into the NFL by the Miami Dolphins as a linebacker and from 1978 to 1982 he played linebacker for the Chicago Bears, under the leadership of Neal Armstrong and then “The Coach” Mike Ditka.  Bruce played numerous defensive positions with the Bears.  While wearing the famed #51 Bruce played outside linebacker, middle linebacker and safety.

After retiring from the NFL, Bruce became the Director of Athletics at Chicago State University. From there his career ventured into a role as a sales executive with Waste Management, the world’s largest waste disposal and recycling corporation.  After a 12 year career in the environmental industry, Bruce accepted the challenge of a global assignment as VP of Business Development for Invensys APV, headquartered in Crawley, British Columbia. APV is a global engineering company that employs over 3,000 people worldwide.  For 18 months Bruce traveled extensively throughout Europe using his extraordinary communication abilities and people skills to reconnect APV with prior businesses partners.

Bruce continues to give back to the community by devoting his time and energy selflessly to various organizations.  Bruce sits on the Board of Governors for Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL and Tuesday’s Child in Chicago, IL. Bruce also is a past president of the NFL Retired Players Association Chicago Chapter and current board member, and volunteers for numerous organizations, such as the Ada S. McKinley Foundation, Sickle Anemia Foundation, Lois Caldwell Breast Cancer Foundation, Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald Children Charities and the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation.

Bruce is an avid golfer, has four children and is married to the Honorable Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, LaGuina Clay-Clark.
