T-Mobile Provides Seniors with Emergency Lifeline

T-Mobile and Sheriff Tom Dart announced on Friday, Oct. 17th, the launch of their partnership in the Cell Phones for Seniors program. As a partner in the Sheriff’s on-going program, T-Mobile will set up donation sites in Chicago, where used cell phones will be collected and recycled to provide a “lifeline” to senior citizens. The partnership was launched at Alderman Ray Suarez’s annual Senior Health Fair where over 500 hundred senior citizens gathered, many of whom received the first cell phone they have ever owned. “We know what a vital role our seniors play in watching our communities,” said Alderman Suarez who supports the program and introduced T-Mobile and Sheriff Tom Dart, making this partnership possible. After the announcement, Alderman Suarez, Sheriff Dart and representatives from T-Mobile mingled with senior citizens discussing the feeling of security having a cell phone gives them.

T-Mobile and Sheriff Tom Dart announced the launch of

On Oct. 17, T-Mobile and Sheriff Tom Dart announced the launch of their partnership in the “Cell Phones for Seniors” program. As a partner in the Sheriff’s on-going program, T-Mobile will set up donation sites in Chicago, where used cell phones will be collected and recycled to provide a “lifeline” to senior citizens. The partnership was launched at Alderman Ray Suarez’s annual Senior Health Fair where over 500 hundred senior citizens gathered, many of whom received the first cell phone they have ever owned.

“We know what a vital role our seniors play in watching our communities,” said Suarez, who supports the program and introduced T-Mobile and Dart, making this partnership possible.

Jermaine Davis, spoke on behalf of T-Mobile, thanking Suarez for his role in the partnership and Dart for allowing T-Mobile to join them in the program.

“It’s about getting government and business to work together to create a safer community,” said Davis.

After the announcement, Suarez, Dart and representatives from T-Mobile mingled with senior citizens discussing the feeling of security having a cell phone gives them. William Rosado, a previous recipient of one of the phones said having a cell phone in his pocket is comforting, and it gives his wife Anna peace of mind when she is unable to accompany him.

“You never know what can happen,” Anna says. “This phone doesn’t just help us, it has helped others too.”

Línea vital para ancianos- T-Mobile y el Alguacil Tom Dart anunciaron la creación de su sociedad en el programa "Teléfonos Celulares para Ancianos".

T-Mobile y el Alguacil Tom Dart anunciaron el 17 de octubre la creación de su sociedad en el programa “Teléfonos Celulares para Ancianos”. Como socio en el programa continuo del Alguacil, T-Mobile tendrá sitios de donación en Chicago, donde se colectarán y reciclarán teléfonos celulares usados para proveer una “línea vital” a ancianos. La sociedad fue lanzada en la Feria anual de Salud Senil del Concejal Ray Suárez donde se reunieron más de 500 ancianos, muchos de quienes recibieron el primer teléfono celular que han tenido.

“Sabemos el papel vital que juegan nuestros ancianos para vigilar nuestras comunidades”, dijo Suárez, quien apoya el programa y presentó a T-Mobile y Dart, haciendo posible la sociedad.

Jermaine Davis habló a favor de T-Mobile, agradeciendo a Suárez su papel en la sociedad y a Dart por permitir a T-Mobile unirse al programa.

“Se trata de hacer funcionar juntos a gobierno y negocios para crear una comunidad más segura”, señaló Davis.

Luego del anuncio, Suárez, Dart y representantes de T-Mobile departieron con ancianos discutiendo los sentimientos de seguridad teniendo un teléfono celular regalado. William Rosado, recipiente previo de uno de los teléfonos dijo que tener un teléfono celular en el bolsillo es confortador, y brinda paz mental a su esposa Anna cuando ella no puede acompañarlo.

“Nunca se sabe lo que puede suceder”, dice Anna. “Este teléfono no sólo nos ayuda a nosotros; ha ayudado también a otros”.
